New Handspuns

Summer's here, and you can tell from the lack of posts that it's been busy. We've had a wet spring and early summer, so I've been having trouble keeping ahead of the grass in the yard. I'm not complaining, though. I like for the grass to be green. The rain also delayed the start of hay season. With the week or more of dry weather we've had lately, though, we're finally getting started on it. I raked for about an hour yesterday. I've also been doing some major straightening and closet organizing in the house. I think there were some spots on the floor that hadn't been seen for quite some time. It's kind of like driving cattle...I'm herding the stuff out of the closets and bedrooms into the kitchen. Then when I get the whole herd into a bunch, I can drive it on down into the basement. (That'll make another whole project in itself.) But at least the upstairs will be straight.

I have been doing a few fibery things. Here are some new handspun yarns for the shop:

This one is from the BFL painted roving that I showed you in my previous post.

The next is some Merino that I dyed and carded into batts on the drum carder. It has some light turquoise, lavender, and peach all carded together, though you can still see a little of the individual colors.

And then this one is kind of a fun yarn. Remember the Lincoln locks I ordered? I carded them into some purple and green BFL (separately). Then I stacked a purple batt and a green batt, pulled off a strip of each, and spun it. I like the little curly locks sticking out here and there.

It's kind of hard to see the locks in the picture. They also kind of give it a little halo. Maybe I can get the yarns listed in the shop before long.

I'd better get off and get busy. The herd is waiting...

Your handspun yarn looks gorgeous. I especially like the BFL painted yarn.
I only hope it's cooler there than it is here, since you have to outside raking.

Thank you!

It's been really hot here, too, but we had more help over the weekend, so I escaped raking in the heat this time.

I can SO appreciate what you've been going through - the same has been happening here. Although I am really trying to avoid shoving even more "stuff" into our basement - hoping to donate it just to get it out of the house! Good luck with all those projects :)
